Sakanayaa in Naha City is a restaurant directly managed by fisherman and serves excellent fish dishes!

Sakanayaa is located in the fishing port of Minato Town, a fishing port in Naha City. The appearance of the restaurant is like the picture above, showing part of the business conditions. Next to the entrance, popular menus by age are posted with pictures. It is a good reference.

When you enter the restaurant, you will see a line of freshly caught fish of the day. On this particular day, it was tuna! It’s a very powerful sight.

And there is a meal ticket machine. The menu is quite unique and interesting, with items such as “Adult Lunch,” “Squid Burger,” and “Tuna 1kg Bowl.

The menu is posted above the kitchen with pictures. It is hard to decide which menu item to choose, but if you want to feel the deliciousness of fish dishes, you cannot miss the “fish soup”. And since I came with my child this day, I ordered the “Mixed Fry Set Meal” for him. I was looking forward to feeling how it tastes.

This is what the interior of the restaurant looks like. It looks like a cafeteria, but it seems to have been remodeled from a part of a fishing port, and I felt the atmosphere of a man’s workplace. It was like a fisherman’s restaurant.

On the wall of the store, there was a hand-drawn illustration of electric light diving fishing. It seems that at night, while the fish are sleeping, they use an underwater gun with an electric light to kill them. So they attack fish in their sleep. I also do harpooning as a hobby, but I have never done it at night because I am afraid of it. This is the skill of a professional fisherman.

I found it quite amusing to learn about the typical experiences of electric light diving fishing, such as “the shooting stars in the night sky are amazing” and “I found myself surrounded by sharks.” You can learn things that only fishermen can understand.

Now, this is Sakanayaa’s fish soup. It is quite a large soup.

I took a sip of the soup first. One sip and you will be amazed at the rich fish umami! The broth is made from various kinds of fish ara, so I could feel the rich fish flavor. Fish soup is also included in the set meal menu, but this fish soup was made by adding a whole fish and simmering it further, so the umami of the seafood was even richer. This is a must-try menu for fish lovers.

The fish that is caught is said to be drained of blood in the water, so the fish soup was very tasty and has little odor characteristic of fish. The white meat was also plump and tasty all the way through.

And this is the “mixed fry set meal” I ordered for my child.

It was truly a mixed fry set meal with tonkatsu, fried fish, and fried shrimp. The fried shrimp were plump. The set meal also comes with fish soup, but it had a different flavor from the fish soup I just had. Of course, I felt the rich seafood flavor.
