Walking toward Route 58 from Kumoji Bridge, you will see the Ichigin Shokudo sign. Every citizen of Naha has seen this sign.
When you enter the restaurant, you will see a meal ticket machine on the left. First buy a meal ticket here and give it to the waiter.
Ichigin Shokudo has a large menu and it is difficult to decide which one to eat. It would be easier to choose if there were a menu with pictures. This is what the interior of Ichigin Shokudo looks like. You can feel the atmosphere of a popular diner that still retains the atmosphere of the Showa period.
I had a hard time deciding which one to try, but I started with the standard A-lunch.
This is Ichigin Shokudo’s A-Lunch (910 yen). It is a generous portion with fried shrimp, hamburger steak, fried chicken, fried horse mackerel, bacon, pork, fried egg, macaroni, and also soup. Each item on the menu had a gentle, home-made taste. This is what A-lunch is all about.
I went back to Ichigin Shokudo on another day. This time I ordered the Nago soba set meal (800 yen).
This is the Nago soba set meal. It is a hearty set meal that includes Nago soba with flat noodles, sashimi, pork, egg omelet, and rice. I started with the Nago soba, which was a good match for the satisfying flat noodles and broth. The bonito broth and soy source-based soup had a gentle aroma. The three pieces of meat and Soki were also well seasoned, making it a very satisfying set meal. I was full to the brim.
